I am a friend of God. He calls me friend! Today's pearl is the pearl of friendship. We use that word lightly, don't we? I mean look at what Facebook has done to the word friend? At one point I had more than 1,500 "friends" on my page. Do I really know that many people, and if I do, do I really want to share my life with them? I began to delete "friends" from my page, and then I just deactivated it. I want to cultivate real relationships. Besides...Twitter is more fun!
Proverbs 17:17 says, "a friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity." OMG! The first part of this statement is hard to swallow. AT ALL TIMES? What about when they make me mad?! But wait, a brother is born FOR adversity? The Amplified version says this: a friend loves at all times, and is born, as is a brother, for adversity. So you mean to tell me as a friend I need to love (all the time) and be ready to handle adversity? Woa. Do you know anyone who fits that description? I do. GOD.
The song below says, "I am a friend of God. He calls me friend." So we ought to love God all the time and understand that because we love God we will face adversity. Now that's the truth. Can you handle the truth?
